Required for hotels, motels, and inns in California, the Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention Poster is based on the new Cal/OSHA regulation to help hospitality employees prevent work-related injuries. The new regulation specifically targets injuries suffered by housekeeping workers. The Hotel Housekeeping Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention regulation took effect July 1, 2018. It requires hospitality employers in California to complete worksite evaluations, with the initial evaluation to be completed prior to October 1, 2018 to identify and address housekeeping worker hazards.

Although this is a regulation by California's Occupational Safety and Health Division, this poster is created to be used universally for any state in the country. The poster includes information on the following:

Causes of musculoskeletal injuries
Employer's responsibility to have an effective program to control the risk of musculoskeletal injuries
Employees' rights

“We created these guidance materials to help workers know their rights and employers their responsibilities to comply with this standard,” said Cal/OSHA Chief Juliann Sum. “In addition, Cal/OSHA Consultation Services are available to assist employers and employees who have questions or need more information.
